Create is where you make things with your brand without bringing your own agent. Describe a social post, a landing page or an app screen, point at the brand items it should use, and Claude designs it from your own parts. Then change it in chat or by hand, and export it.

## Make a design

:::steps
### Open Create
Press **Create** in the sidebar. With nothing made yet, the page is one prompt box with three examples under it (a social media post, a product screen and a landing page or a photo). Press an example to write it into the box.

### Describe it
Write what you want in plain words, up to 2,000 characters. Type `@` to use something from the brand (see below).

### Set where it's going
Use the chips under the box to pick a format, decide how strictly to stay inside the brand, and choose how many takes to make.

### Send
Press Enter or the arrow. Each take appears on the wall as a card that says it is being made, and the box is free for your next request straight away. Before a new design is finished, Claude looks at it as drawn and fixes what it finds, such as copy cut off at the edge.
:::

To make a whole set of pieces from one brief instead, pick **Campaign** in the first chip. See [Campaigns](/docs/create/campaigns).

You need the **Designs and checks** permission to make designs. Without it, the box says "You can view this brand, but not make things with it."

## The prompt box

### Reference brand items with @

Typing `@` opens a menu of the brand's components, templates, photos, logos, artifacts and voice documents. Pick one and it sits in your sentence as a badge with its picture, exactly where you mean it: "a hero with @Team photo on the left". Backspace removes a badge whole. A request can reference up to 12 items.

The **+** button at the start of the row offers the same items as a drawer, **Use from brand**, and **Upload from computer**. An uploaded file goes with that request only and is never added to your assets: a picture (PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF) to place or work from, or a document (PDF, text or markdown) to read as the brief. You can also drop or paste files onto the box. A request takes up to 6 files of up to 20 MB each.

A referenced item is a must: Claude uses it as it is, rather than drawing something like it.

### Links

Write a link into your request, such as "a collaboration post with Les Deux (https://lesdeux.dk)", and Create reads that page as you type: its words, its logo and up to 6 of its pictures. A row under your text names each link and what came back ("page text, logo, 6 pictures"). Press **×** to leave a link unread, and **Read** to read it again. Only links that start with `https://`, `http://` or `www.` are read, up to 3 per request, and only the page you linked to, not the rest of the site.

What a link brings goes with that request only and is never added to your assets. Claude treats it as the other party's material: their facts and products for the copy, and their logo and pictures placed where your request is about them, such as a partner logo slot, beside your brand's own and never instead of it. Your design stays in your brand's colors and type.

### Format

The format chip starts on **Any format**, which lets Claude pick from your request. Open it to choose a kind of thing (**Social media**, **Website**, **Product/app**, **Email**, **Banner**, **Presentation** or **Document**), then a platform's exact format and size.

While nothing is picked, a platform or a kind of thing named in your request ("for LinkedIn", "social media", "a newsletter") counts as picked: the word becomes a tag in the box and the chip shows it. If that isn't what you meant, open the chip and choose **Any format** to stop it.

### Brand

The brand chip reads **Brand only** until you change it. Open it to set two things.

First, how far the design may go past what the brand owns, in its materials and its copy:

| Setting | What it allows |
| --- | --- |
| **Brand only** (default) | Only what the brand owns, and only its own messages. Gaps are reported. |
| **Brand first** | Fresh lines on the brand's messages. Simple stand-ins where it has nothing. |
| **Free** | New angles on the brand's messages, new tints, drawn graphics, bolder type. |

Layout is free at every setting. Second, for each part of the brand (**Components**, **Photos**, **Icons**, **Artifacts** and **Documents**), choose **Must**, **Auto** or **Off**. Under Photos, **Generate photos when none fit** lets Claude have a new photo made when nothing in your library suits. It is off by default, because each one is generated, paid for in credits, and added to your library. See [Images and video](/docs/create/media).

### Takes

The takes stepper sets how many versions to make side by side, from 1 to 4 (2 by default). Each take is steered a different way, and each is its own design. The estimate of credits beside the send button covers all of them.

## Designs from templates

If you `@`-reference a template, the design uses that template's layout and Claude fills it for your request: its copy and photos, and anything inside a content area the template defines. The format chip then reads **Template's format**. A design can use one template at a time.

You can start the same way from a template's own page with **Use template**. See [Templates](/docs/brand/templates).

Without a template, Claude composes the layout itself from your parts.

## Refine a design

Open a design from the wall. The rail beside it has three tabs.

### Chat

Ask for a change in plain words: "a shorter headline", "a photo of the team", "add a row for refunds". Click something on the artboard first to hold the change to that one element; the box then asks what should change about it. The change starts from the design as it stands, and **Undo** takes back the last one.

### Design

Edit by hand, the way you edit a template: select layers, move and resize them, restyle them from the inspector, and retype copy by double-clicking it. With nothing selected, the inspector lists the design's copy and photo fields. The toolbox under the canvas adds text, shapes, and the brand's own images, components, artifacts and logos.

To change a picture, open its field and pick one from the library, describe a new one, or choose **Upload from computer**. An uploaded picture is used in that design only and is never added to your assets, which suits a partner's logo or a one-off shot.

The first time you change the layout of a design made from a template, that frame gets its own copy of the layout. The template stays as it was.

### Details

The design's name, where it came from and its format, the brief you wrote, every change asked since, and **Used from the brand**: the components, logo, photos, artifacts and icons it draws on. Claude's notes on anything it assumed or couldn't find are listed here too, for whoever sends the design out.

## Save and export

A design is kept on the Create wall as soon as it is made. Edits you make by hand are held until you press **Save** (or ⌘S), and **Cancel** throws them away. Asking Claude for a change or exporting saves your edits first, and leaving the page with unsaved edits asks before it goes.

**Export** offers:

- **PNG** of the frame in view, or **PNG, all N frames** as a zip
- **PDF**, with every page in one file for multi-page documents
- **HTML & CSS**, a zip with the markup, styles, fonts and pictures

**Save as template** copies the design into your templates, which is how it reaches your agents. The **…** menu renames or deletes the design.
