Team and workspace

Members and roles

Invite people to a brand, decide what each of them can do, and let everyone at your company join by email domain.

A brand's team is everyone who can open it in Archetype. Each member has a role that decides what they can change, and every member takes a seat on the plan. You manage all of it in Settings → Team.

Roles

Every member can see the whole brand and comment on it. Roles differ in what else they can do, and each one includes everything in the role above it in this table.

RoleWhat it adds
ViewerView and comment only.
CreatorMake designs on the Create page and from templates, run checks, and spend the AI credits those use. No brand edits.
EditorEdit every part of the brand, and set the state of what is in it.
AdminManage connections (the share link, the linked Figma file and brand tokens), the team, and billing.
OwnerDelete the brand, hand it to someone else, and manage admins. Each brand has one Owner, at first the person who created it.

The Roles section at the bottom of Settings → Team shows the same thing as a table, with a column per role. Its rows are grouped as Make (designs and checks), Brand (each area, as view only or view and edit), Manage (connections, the team, billing) and Own (the brand itself).

Custom roles

When none of the five fits, an Admin or the Owner can make a role of their own, such as a copywriter who edits Knowledge and only views the rest.

  1. 1

    Open Settings → Team

Scroll to Roles and select New role.

  2. 2

    Name it

Give the role a name (up to 40 characters) and, if you like, a short description (up to 160 characters).

  3. 3

    Choose its access

Set each area of the brand to View only or View & edit: Foundations, Components, Templates, Library (the Assets section), Icons, Artifacts, Knowledge and Brand profile. Then switch on any of designs and checks, connections, the team and billing.

  4. 4

    Save

Select Add role. It now appears in every role menu on the page.

A role can't have more access than the person making it. Only the Owner can make or change a role that manages the team. If you delete a custom role, everyone who had it becomes a Viewer until someone gives them another role.

Invite people

You need the Admin or Owner role to invite.

  1. 1

    Open Settings → Team

Select Invite people at the top of the page.

  2. 2

Enter an address and a role

Type the person's email and pick a role. You can only offer roles with no more access than your own, and only the Owner can invite another Admin.

  3. 3

    Send it

Select Send invite. Archetype emails the invite and shows you the same link, so you can also share it yourself.

Invite links expire after 14 days. A pending invite sits in the member list marked Invited, and its ⋯ menu has Resend invite (another 14 days on the same link), Copy link and Revoke.

The person opens the link, sees the brand they are joining, and selects Join organization, or Continue to sign in if they aren't signed in yet. An invite is enough to create an account: they don't need to join the waitlist first.

Join by email domain

Instead of inviting a whole company one address at a time, an Admin can let anyone with an address at your domain join on their own.

  1. 1

    Open Settings → Team

Find Join by email domain and select Add domain.

  2. 2

Enter the domain and a role

Type your domain, such as company.com, and choose the role new people join as: Editor, Creator or Viewer. Admin is never handed out this way.

  3. 3

    Add it

Select Add domain. Archetype may ask you to sign in with a Google account at that domain first, to show it is yours.

From then on, someone who signs up with Google at that domain joins the brand straight away. Someone who signs up with an email and password gets an invite emailed to that address, which confirms they own it.

  • Public mail providers, such as Gmail, can't be added.
  • A domain can belong to one brand on Archetype at a time.
  • It applies to new accounts only. People who already have an account still need an invite.
  • Removing a domain stops new sign-ups. Everyone who already joined stays.

Change, remove or hand over

  • Change a role: pick a new one from the role menu on the person's row. Only the Owner can make someone an Admin, change an Admin's role, or remove an Admin.
  • Remove someone: open the ⋯ menu on their row and select Remove.
  • Leave a brand: open the ⋯ menu on your own row and select Leave. The Owner can't leave; transfer ownership first.
  • Transfer ownership: as the Owner, open the person's role menu, select Make owner…, then Transfer ownership. You stay on as an Admin.

Admins and the Owner also see a History button at the top of the page. It lists who joined, left, was invited or removed, every role change, and changes to roles and credit limits.

Seats

Every member is a seat, from Viewer to Owner, once their invite is accepted. Connected agents never take one. Seats are unlimited during the trial; Pro includes 5 and bills each one past that automatically. The invite and domain dialogs say what the next person costs. See Plans and trial.

Admins and the Owner can also cap how many AI credits each person spends a month. See AI credits.

Mentions and notifications

Type @ in any comment to mention a teammate. The bell in the top bar lists mentions of you, replies on threads you've commented on, and changes your own agents have proposed for review. Switch between Unread and All, or select Mark all read.

To choose what reaches your inbox, open My profile from the avatar menu and find Notifications: Email me when I'm mentioned and Replies.
